Anurag Kashyap wishes Manoj Bajpayee a happy birthday: Aapki acting ki badhaas jald hi nikle

On Manoj Bajpayee’s 51st birthday today, many celebrities have come forward to wish him on social media. Director Anurag Kashyap’s birthday wish stands out for their cool camaraderie.

“Happy Birthday @BajpayeeManoj Sahab…Aasha hai aapki acting ki badhaas jald hi nikle (sic),” Anurag tweeted.

Considering production work on films, TV shows and web series have been halted in the lockdown, actors, directors and everyone associated with the medium miss being on sets the most. Clearly Anurag’s wish points to a time in the future when Manoj can get back on sets to perform as an actor, the one thing he loves the most.

Apart from Anurag, celebrities including Apoorva Asrani, Ravi Kishan, Nikkhil Advani, Milap Milan Zaveri and Shirish Kunder have also wished Manoj Bajpayee a happy birthday.

Apoorva Asrani, who worked with Manoj as a screenwriter in Hansal Mehta’s Aligarh, shared a scene from the film on Twitter, and wrote, “You give voice to characters that society chooses to ignore. You do it like a boss, and you do it on your terms. Thank you for the movies. @BajpayeeManoj. Happy birthday (sic).”

To which Manoj replied, “Loads of love my dear Appu (sic).”

Ravi Kishan posted a picture of Manoj and himself from the film 1971, released in 2007, and wrote, “@BajpayeeManoj shamboo…happy birthday to u…aap mast rahein swasth rahein aur desh ko apne adbhut performance se paglate rahein sadev (sic).”

Manoj congratulated him on the success of their film 1971 in his reply.

It won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and Best Audiography in 2009. 1971 is a war drama and is now available on YouTube.

Nikkhil Advani, the producer of John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, where Manoj played the role of a police officer, also wished the veteran actor.

Nikkhil tweeted, “Happy happy @BajpayeeManoj You’re a rockstar actor and solid friend. Have a cracker year. Big big hug (sic).”

Satyameva Jayate director Milap Zaveri remembered the last day of the film’s shoot and posted a throwback picture with Manoj.

He wrote, “Happy birthday @BajpayeeManoj sir!!! This pic was taken on the last day of #SatyamevaJayate shoot and it was one of the most amazing times of my life to be able to direct you! You are a rockstar and your Loha is legendary! Love u sir and wish u all the joy in the world (sic).”

Manoj thanked both Nikkhil and Milap for their wishes.

Manoj will soon be seen in the sequel of Satyameva Jayate, titled Satyameva Jayate 2.

Manoj’s next release is the Shirish Kunder-directed, Netflix Original, Mrs Serial Killer. The series also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Mohit Raina, apart from Manoj.

Shirish wished Manoj a happy birthday, and tweeted, “Happy Birthday to my favourite actor and dear friend, @BajpayeeManoj Your birthday present is reaching you on May 1. #MrsSerialKiller (sic).”

Mrs Serial Killer will start streaming on Netflix from May 1.

Coming back to Anurag and Manoj, they initially worked together in films like Satya (1988), Shool (1999), Kaun (1999), and the likes. Anurag penned the screenplay, while Manoj played the lead roles in all the three films.

Years later, Anurag cast Manoj in his own directorial ventures Gangs Of Wasseypur and Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 in 2012. Manoj played the lead role of Sardar Khan in both films.

Last year, Manoj Bajpayee was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to cinema. He received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind.

Manoj Bajpayee is currently self-quarantining with his family in Uttarakhand. He was shooting with actor Deepak Dobriyal for an upcoming web series in Ramgarh in March and has been stationed there since the lockdown was announced.

On the work front, he will be seen in film Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari which also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Apart from Mrs Serial Killer, the second season of The Family Man, an Amazon Prime venture, is also awaited.
